Gladsome Light

The first time I saw
those notes
I held my breath
close to my chest –
they wrapped my heart
with veiled worth

I could not read
nay chant them yet
I knew them

Them I bore
ere dawn.

  1. I saw your image is from St. Anthony’s in Arizona. I’ve lived here most of my life and never heard of it. Beautiful grounds.

    I like your line about knowing even though you couldn’t read or chant the words.
