Written for Cognitive Reflection Picture Writing Challenge #27
One wave after another, steps on the currents of life. Layers merge with pliable foreshore, digging hands deep into the salty body, taking smatterings of smooth, grainy earth with them. The bloodshot face burnt by the evening sun breaks a sigh of relief as it swims freely within that feathery sapphire, boiling and bubbling as its porous form takes in cool streams of briny dew. So the waves wash over me, a timeless moment of quietude, and I am content though I know they will lead me back to the shore where I will burn anew.
