Summer in July

bright billowing cloud
menacing dark sunlight –
swimming winter days

cicada sounds untimely
fresh strokes stain an open sky

Written for Heeding Haiku With HA: Summer Kigo. Unfortunately the Southern Hemisphere is currently under the influence of winter, although… there is a faint hint of spring in the air.

  1. When in winter, the hints of spring do bring much hope. (After months of summer heat, I’m rather looking forward to winter and the need for a blanket to keep warm… of course after a couple months of that, I’ll be ready for spring… seems I can’t be happy 🙂 )

    1. Haha, so true! You know, I think that there is some wisdom in the way that the seasons turn. Each one seems to arrive just when we begin to get sick of the previous one!
